Description
A WW2 Army Air Force uniform and field gear lot consisting of the Ike Jacket, summer shirt, wool pants, socks with box, three hats (one with unit crest), Belt with two buckles, awards, musette bag with shoulder strap, field suspenders, poncho, ditty bag, duffel bag, and first aid kit with contents. Most items are marked with either Donald J Hilton's name or laundry mark. The pants, first aid kit, socks, and shirt are the only items not marked. Many items have dates with no date being later than 5 June 1944 which is the Ike Jacket. The 2nd AF patch on the jacket is felt with a black gauze style backing and the 9th AF is fully embroidered with both being hand sewn to the jacket. Both ribbon bars are pin back. The Branch of Service (BOS) emblems both are screw back. The 2nd AF patch on the shirt is embroidered on twill and the 9thAF patch is fully embroidered. Picture# 4 shows the cuff of the right sleeve has a hole. As far as can be seen, this is the only damage to the uniform. The first aid kit is marked Medical Department over USA. The kit looks to be British made based on the canvas material's weave and that the "lift the dot" fasteners are flat on the inside portion of the female side, but the zipper is marked "Made in USA" on the slide and "KWIK" on the slide's tab along with a patent mark. When these items were purchased at auction, there was still Morphine ampules with syringes in the first aid kit, but the auction house would not allow those to be sold, something about narcotics and the selling of being illegal. The first aid kit reminds me oft hose that were in Air Force aircraft and snapped to the inside airframe and over the cargo seats. The poncho is supple, not stiff like the Vietnam era types, and has a rubberized coating with brass grommets. I'll be glad to send more photos if desired. I would like to have the entire compliment stay together, but will consider breaking it up if the lot does not sell. These items were purchased separately for a pretty penny, but all at the same auction on the same day. This is a very nice lot in great condition.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/313th_Tactical_Fighter_Squadron
